About us

Pediatric Orthotic Specialists, located in Grand Rapids, MI, was founded in 2001 and has been at its current location on the southeast side of the city since 2006. The office space sits in the Saddleback Center at 781-A Kenmoor Ave SE just off Cascade Rd. in close proximity to Interstate 96. This location allows convenient access to patients traveling in any direction while also remaining close to many medical providers our patients require as part of their comprehensive care.

Our practice began by the word of mouth recommendations of parents and medical professionals looking for options to treat their children with the best orthotic care available. The business then steadily began growing, now reaching over 400 physicians and physical therapists throughout MI and the US who we work with to address the orthotic needs of the pediatric community. During our own development as a company, we have appreciated the opportunities to have a positive impact on the quality of life for so many children and their families along the way.

Because all our orthoses are completely fabricated in our on-site laboratory, we have been able to work diligently on improving design and materials to provide the greatest quality to our patients. Following years of research and development, our daytime D-DAFO design was introduced and granted a US Patent in 2005.  Recognizing yet another opportunity to better serve our patients, our company then developed a nighttime dynamic stretching design and in 2017, a US Patent was granted for our Roosterboot 2 orthosis.

While the D-DAFO and Roosterboot 2 have become the backbone of our company’s offerings, the knowledge obtained in the development of these patented products has allowed us to carry over these valuable lessons to our other orthotic designs. This unique approach of continuous innovation with a focus on the utmost quality for our patients highlights our specialization and creates the foundation for our company within the medical community in West MI and beyond.

Throughout the many changes of our company’s existence, our goal has always remained the same; provide the highest level of orthotic patient care while recognizing that each patient is an individual with distinct orthotic needs. Our lab now boasts three fulltime technicians who the orthotists collaborate with daily, while our front office staff has grown to three individuals to handle the complex paperwork and billing associated with providing our product. Two assistants aid the orthotists with patient care and other technical duties, while a host of other support in the medical community assure we are always comprehensively addressing the needs of our patients with the utmost quality of care.
